The TPIC6B595N is an 8-bit shift register with output latches and high-current outputs designed for driving LEDs, motors, and other high-current loads. It features a serial input and parallel output, allowing it to expand the number of digital outputs from a microcontroller or microprocessor with minimal pin usage. This device is commonly used in LED displays, industrial control systems, and other applications requiring high-current drive capability. Key Features:
  • 8-bit serial-in, parallel-out shift register
  • High-current outputs capable of driving up to 150mA per channel
  • Low output saturation voltage (typically 1V at 100mA)
  • Cascadable for expanding I/O capability
  • Serial data input and output
  • Output latch for storing data
  • Wide supply voltage range
Technical Specifications:
  • Number of Bits: 8
  • Supply Voltage (Vcc): 5V to 10V
  • Output Current per Pin: Up to 150mA
  • Output Saturation Voltage: Typically 1V at 100mA
  • Operating Temperature Range: -40°C to +125°C
  • Package Type: 16-pin DIP (Dual In-line Package), SOIC (Small Outline Integrated Circuit)
Applications:
  • LED displays and matrixes
  • Industrial automation
  • Motor control
  • Remote control systems
  • Data acquisition systems
  • General-purpose digital output expansion
Usage:
  1. Connect the serial data input (DS) to the microcontroller or data source.
  2. Connect the serial data output (Q7') to the serial data input of additional TPIC6B595N devices if cascading.
  3. Connect the parallel output pins (Q0 to Q7) to the load (e.g., LEDs, motors).
  4. Provide the appropriate supply voltage to Vcc and ground to GND.
  5. Use the shift (SRCLK) and latch (RCLK) signals to control data shifting and latching.
Caution:
  • Ensure the output current does not exceed the maximum rating to avoid damage.
  • Properly manage heat dissipation if driving multiple high-current loads.
  • Handle with care to avoid damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD).
